Marking Past Thriller Openings

we thought this movie was really good and met a lot of the expectations. However, it did not meet the criteria of being a thriller movie as it was too gory making it more of a horror film. The effects used were effective in making a scary atmosphere and grabs the attention of the audience. It didn't use much variety of shot types mainly just close ups, however these shots were mostly necessary to keep the tension and mystery. It also disorientates the audience as they don't have audience privilege.
The editing effect of flashing up images and almost embedding them is really effective as it creates suspense and gives just a taster of what is to come in the film. Also the font with the titles and peoples names is really effective as they are kind of edgy and it fits with the music.
